LES BASSETES:
Benissa`s southernmost stretch of coastline comprises the Les Bassetes bay that is located on the boundary between Benissa and Calpe. This bay's name refers to the tranquil pond-like waters of this natural cove formed by tongue of sandstone rock on which the Basettes yacht club has been built.From this bay starts the Ecological Coastal Trail (Paseo Ecológico). This footpath runs north allowing marvellous views of the coastline and, at the same time, offering information panels.There is a protected area consisting of a micro flora reserve that includes species such as the Cat's Head Rock Rose and the Mediterranean Thyme. The existence of this nature reserve gives the Bay of Les Bassetes a high ecological and environmental value.

ACTIVITIES:
That offers PADI diving courses and also DAN life-saving courses. The centre's activities include boat rides, initiation, night dives and preparation for advanced diving exams. It is the only PADI centre that offers diving courses in Spanish, English, French and Dutch. It is officially registered with the Marine Authorities Nautical Studies Department (EDN.AL242) and PADILes BassetesCosta BlancaAmongst the Club's activities stand out the Las Antípodas Sailing School that gives the opportunity to learn and practice water sports such as Catamaran sailing, Kayak, Windsurf, Wakeboard and Paddle Surf (SUP). The school is officially registered with the Dirección General de Marina Mercante, Subsecretaria de Altos Estudios Náuticos (Marine Authorities Nautical Studies Department. EDN.AL242), the Real Federación Española de Vela (Spanish Royal Federation of Sailing) and the Federación de Vela de la Comunidad Valenciana (Valencia Sailing Federation)

This yacht club has 80 berths for boats up to 8 metres long and also a restaurant, bar, boat yard, lift, winter berthing, boat repairs and radio TV VHE Canal 9. The coordinates of the marina are 38º 39'N y 0º 0,5'E. In the month of April the club hosts the CNBASETES catamaran trophy and in September the annual Deep Sea Fishing Competition and the Sub-aquatic cleaning of the sea bed together with the Town Council of Benissa. The Yacht Club boasts the following environmental awards and eco-labels: Blue Flag for its environmental policy, high quality services and safety measures and its integral management system, certifies under the ISO 9001 Y 14001 International Standards.

SUBAQUATIC TREKKING:
This easy trip will take you alongside the tongue of rock after getting into the water down the steps located close to the yacht club's restaurant. The route takes you towards the sea wall where keeping a distance of some 20 or 30 metres you will see on the sea bed the meadow of Posidonia oceánica that acts like the sea's lung since its capacity of oxygenation is greater that then of forest (1m2 of sea grass can produce up to 14 litres of oxygen) giving us an idea of the quality of the water.Here the sea grass is abundant and receives the visits of the Salema porgies that feed from its leaves. The sea bed is at a depth of 3 or 4 metres and as you make your way towards the end of the sea wall you will notice areas of sand with some rocks where fish such as Damsels, Combers and Mediterranean Rainbow Wrasse carry out their frenetic activity.

In May and June and the beginning of July you will be able to observe the young Damsel fish that stand out for their intense blue colour that in maturity will darken to the characteristic black. Before you reach the end of the sea wall you will turn back going closer to view the rocky sea bed that in places is a sheer wall and other adopts curious forms or rounded pebbles that make this sea bed unusually luminous. Amongst the rocks you might find one of the small octopi that hide in the shadows waiting for their prey.There are abundant small fish that are permanent proof of life and activity in this refreshing journey over Benissa's blue water.

ECOLOGICAL PATH FOR THE COST:
Enjoy the breeze and warmth of the Benissa & Calpe coast as you walk along this eco-footpath.More than 10 km long rocky coastline with cliffs and small coves surrounded by pine trees. An eco-trail runs along the coastline and can be enjoyed throughout the year thanks to the mild climate.
